Mystery object seen over Mississippi turns out to be from Roswell

Image: AI-generated (Midjourney) With all the talk of the US government releasing its files on UFOs recently, actual sightings of unidentified objects over the country have somewhat fallen by the wayside.

This wasn't so much the case in Harrison County, Mississippi on Friday, however, thanks to a number of reports concerning a mysterious object that had been spotted at high altitude.

The incident prompted local news channel WLOX to reach out to the nearby Keesler Air Force Base as well as to Gulfport Biloxi International Airport to find out what it might have been.It also used a flight tracking website to look for records of any matching flights.

As it turned out, the object did seem to match the trajectory of a high-altitude balloon that had taken off from Roswell, New Mexico - the home of the world's most famous UFO incident.

In this case, however, the explanation had nothing to do with aliens - instead, the balloon belonged to a company that specializes in telecommunications and climate monitoring.

The incident once again highlights the fact that many UFO sightings do end up having conventional explanations.
