The largest great white shark ever discovered in the Atlantic has been spotted again after not being seen for several months.
Dubbed "the ultimate ocean warrior", this enormous great white shark - named "Contender" - is the largest of its kind ever found in the Atlantic and a veritable monster of the shark world.

Discovered in 2025, Contender weighs 1,653 pounds (750 kg) and is almost 14 feet (4.3 m) long.

To learn more about him (and to keep an eye on his movements), researchers at OCEARCH put an electronic tag on him.
Earlier this year, he was spotted around the Cape Fear area of North Carolina, but then disappeared for several months, leaving scientists wondering where he had gone.

Now, though, he has reappeared and is seemingly heading toward the coast of New England.

Exactly what he is doing there, as well where he will head next, remains unclear.
