A disc golf game had to be temporarily halted after the animal unexpectedly plummeted onto the course.
Players enjoying a game of disc golf at Splinter City Disc Golf Course in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina last month bore witness to a bizarre interruption that they certainly won't be forgetting in a hurry.
The incident, which occurred on May 18th, saw the game suspended after a hammerhead shark suddenly fell from the sky and landed on the green near the 11th hole of the course.
"We couldn't believe it and kept asking ourselves, 'did that really just happen?'" witness Jonathan Marlowe told
Garden and Gun magazine. "I thought it would be a random fish."
So how exactly did a shark wind up falling onto a golf course ?
As it turns out, the shark had been in the talons of an osprey at the time and when the bird was suddenly startled by some crows, it dropped its catch directly onto the course.
"It's not uncommon to see an osprey carrying something, but you take note because it's still really cool to see," said Marlowe.
