Trump unveils questionable new US Space Force uniform designs

Back in 2020, it revealed its new logo, which at the time attracted a certain level of derision owing to the fact that it bore more than a passing resemblance to the Starfleet logo from Star Trek.

Now President Donald Trump has published a post on social media revealing what is alleged to be the latest design for the uniforms to be worn by US Space Force personnel.

The graphic (see below) states that the uniforms have been "inspired by the discipline and functionality of the 'Starship Troopers' uniform, modernized for the guardians of the space domain."

Trouble is, the uniforms worn in Paul Verhoeven's 1997 science-fiction classic were deliberately designed to reflect those worn by the Nazis in World War II."I decided to make a movie about fascists who aren't aware of their fascism," Verhoeven told The Guardian back in 2022 when asked about the film.

So why do the US Space Force uniforms take inspiration from this ?

As things stand, it's unclear if the designers actually understood the underlying premise of the movie or if the new design is intended to make some sort of statement.

Whatever the case, the unveiling has certainly kicked up some considerable controversy.
