A cryptozoological creature, thought by some to be a giant exotic cat, has been reported to the police in Coventry, England.
According to reports, a mysterious creature - which has been dubbed 'Catfoot' by locals - has been spotted multiple times over the past week or so in and around the Binley Woods area.
Residents who claim to have seen the large black cat - which is said to resemble a panther - have contacted local police, who have since commented on the phenomenon.
According to a police statement, the creature typically scarpers whenever people draw near.
"We have had various members of the public approach us again regarding a large black cat sighting, again in the Binley Woods area, this has now been seen by multiple eye witnesses and then reported to officers whilst on patrol, although we advise them each time to report this to the British Big Cat society," the Stoke and Wyken team wrote.
"Residents are encouraged to appreciate local wildlife responsibly. If you suspect you have seen an injured, escaped, or potentially dangerous animal, please refrain from approaching it and report your sighting to the appropriate authorities."
Locals have been advised to send any photographic evidence to wildlife organisations and to contact the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) about any concerns for an animal's welfare.
As it stands, it is unclear whether or not there really is a large exotic cat on the loose in the area or if the sightings are more of a case of mistaken identity.
Either way, anyone who does see such a creature is advised not to approach it.
