I watched Monsterquest couple of months back. An Ape handler at a zoo in Florida said that, although it has the features of an orangutan, Orangutan's don't bare their teeth in fear or angry, or something along those lines. So it's either a hoax, or something non orangutan.

@cryptoray actually, there are. a good sized group of abandoned pet orangutans is thriving in that area. seems pretty clear that the woman was right in the first place.

couldnt have said it better myself maya86.:) its not impossible 4 a creature like the skunk ape to live in the everglades.its unlikely, but not impossible.

This photo was taken in Florida, I don't think there are any orangutans running around in Florida, right?

Are you people stoned or what? 1. Orangs are ORANGE, This creature is grey-black! 2. Almost all primates are omnivorous, so, a leaf in the teeth proves nothing! 3. I believe that these creatures, upon believing that they have been seen by humans, that they freeze like a opossum, until they know that they have been seen and then flee.

I found this story hard to believe old woman and husband kept hearing noises having fruits stolen and animals in area being killed(rodents). I live 3 hours away almost, this place is next to Everglades.Imet the old lady in a diner when my dad and Iwere talkin' about skunk ape and the Melbourne Booger. In the 60's thru 70's skunk apes were sighted alot because there were still alot of woods.

It looks kinda the same, but as I said before the one on the left just doesn't look that real. Like it has light bulbs for eyes.

no the police received the photos, there's two of them, photographer unknown, in the second picture it's from a lower view, the thing doesn't move at all between pictures, the hoaxers put the leaves in it's mouth and in the second pic you can tell it's just stuck to the upper teeth....hoax hoax hoax.

Ok as odd as this might sound, I saw the episode of this kids show on the paranormal, and so they set up a trap for this ape, and in the morning they found the tree where they put a hidden camera and that picture showed up.

the eyes and nose of the orange utan are farther in, alot of primapes have simularites, this just may be a close relative. and large animals do seem to be scared of humans, like a moose for instance, they stand liek 7ft at the sholder, and rip threw brush. but if they catch a human scent, they run, although they could easily take a human down.

it was probably more scared of him then he was of it, most likely taken before the skunk ape split. too tall for an orang utan and the picture of the skunk ape is bipedal ( standing and most likely walking on its hind legs)

If that creature was that close when the pic was taken how did the camera guy get off without meating his unconsious side??
