that looks authentic, but y the h*** would the owner not send it in for a DNA test?? If it was real, then the owner can charge money to look at it...

Oh yeah it is a fake i just read the article about Allistair Mitchell's desperate hoax. Google Allistair Mitchell Dragon Jar
Comment icon #160 Posted by the 1st sin on 4 May, 2009, 17:25
Fake or not im not sure but IT IS FRIGGIN COOL! Has an umbilical cord and everything. In the book of Genesis it was stated there were 'GIANTS' in those days (biblical) so hey maybe these are the chariots of fire the bible always mentioned
Comment icon #159 Posted by makubex on 30 December, 2008, 6:30
You people are totally underestimating the power of a professional sculptor. I don't understand why this -couldn't- be made in the 1890s. I love dragons, and believe that at one point that they could have been real, but when the original sculptor, Allistair Mitchell, flat out says that he made it, how could you even think that it was real? Does he have a reason to hide it's authenticity? BTW, I saw Walking with Dinosaurs, it was pretty much the coolest thing I've ever seen. Very realistic.
Comment icon #158 Posted by Antinomy on 2 July, 2008, 17:37
LOL!!!The dragon was sculpted by Colin Shulver and is made of silicon, with latex wings and nylon claws and teeth.

Comment icon #153 Posted by ravenlady13 on 23 June, 2007, 5:49
If I remember correctly, the author (I will NOT befoul myself by using that faker's name) had it made by one of those special-effects companies that mae things like this for movies and such. He didn't even make it himself, he paid for a hoax to promote a freaking book!
Comment icon #152 Posted by shadow of the night on 13 June, 2007, 23:34
very cute where can I get one. Oh, I remeber I will just go to my local Family Dollar. Pathetic it looks it is made of wax or the same color clay we used in school. LOL
Comment icon #151 Posted by krayt12 on 11 May, 2007, 18:21
ok. I didn't know u believed in Dragons too and when i think about it again, it seems odd how a jar of a baby dragon - real or not - can be found in a garage and i guess i forgot that Allistar said it was a fake - my mistake. Plus, i didn't that taking fossils etc. from Arcological Sites was illegal - not that ive done it myself! - be careful DragonLover.
Comment icon #150 Posted by cryptonite on 3 May, 2007, 2:07
This could have been made with ballistics gel, plaster, animal fat, or silly putty.
Comment icon #149 Posted by lone_wolf_eyes on 11 April, 2007, 21:33
and i suppose you believed the documentary on dragons that aired on the discovery channel too? (i own the dvd of that and if you go to special features they tell you how they make it) Krayt, I never said I didn't belive dragons arent real. I do believe in them, but i dont believe this dragon is real... well plus Allistar(excuse my spelling)has already openly said that it was a fake created by him. If they can make dinosaurs like the ones seen on Jurassic Park and the dragon from Dragonheart, I dont see why its so hard to believe Allistar built this little dragon himself. As for D...

oh yeh, DragonLOVER, u sed u found a Dragon Scale that wouldnt scrath. You sure that wasnt a piece of metal or sumthing? Any DNA tests used to see if its a fossil or rock? I believe i mite be real. Plus i saw sum blocke explaining how dragons could exist. I would seriously do ANYTHING to see a real, living + breathing Dragon! Do a couple of tricks too :P Or atleast sum genuine proof, anyone?

Loads of people here have been saying how its real or fake, even abused each other, like DragonLOVER + Lone_Wolf_Eyes - that fite was wicked! - but heres a thought. 1)People have the rite to believe in anyfin they want without other people bein rude. 2)You cant stop people from believin stuff, seems like DragonLOVER has already got his beliefs in enough, good on u for stickin up for the Dragons! 3)Tho i am a bit of a Dragonlover myself - love dragons, not the person :P - no one knows what dragons truly look like, this could be REAL or FAKE. 4)People can say stuff all the time, example, the Ali...
Comment icon #145 Posted by lovefiend on 2 February, 2007, 21:23
DragonLOVER, perhaps if you could spell 'you' correctly, and had more evidence than one book, and stop ignoring the fact that someone has ADMITTED to making it, and explained HOW, then perhaps more people would listen to you. It is an excellent job though, Allistair is really talented!
Comment icon #144 Posted by sea_maid13 on 24 December, 2006, 5:16
It looks like if you chopped it open, an easter candy would pop out. It looks faker than the fuji mermaid.

Comment icon #142 Posted by cryptocorpse on 6 November, 2006, 12:27
I think most of the people here are fake. Notice how most people envy anything someone with great talent creates? You people who say it looks fake, or crummy I would like to see any of you make a better dragon. None of you could because you don't have the talent or knowledge to build anything near the quality of this dragon in a bottle.

Comment icon #135 Posted by ramboiii on 23 June, 2006, 22:29
Get a team of scientists and inspect it's organs- if it has any. I don't think something like that could be created in the 1890s.

It could be real. There are so many extinct creatures we've never seen. There are still many live creatures we haven't seen as well. Even if THIS isen't real, we can't say something like it NEVER existed.

i think foxgirl3 is right. anybody shouldn't make fun of anybody that beleive in something. to me i think its 50/50, why is there myths and legends of them?
Comment icon #127 Posted by foxgirl on 4 January, 2006, 21:18
First of all, lone_wolf_eyes you have no right to make fun of anyone in what they believe. If dragonLover believes in dragons let it be. You might believe it is fake, but until the truth has be found out, the chances of it being real or being fake is 50/50. Get over your self you baka. If you want to know what a baka is, go to a japanese translation site.

let's just think and go to fairytale land now.Since the creatures umbilical cord is still hanging that must mean the man must have killed a dragon or owned one.

the museum is so stupid anyway poor thing

its one of those things where you stick it in water and it grows, i have the exact same one.
Comment icon #120 Posted by egerren on 18 November, 2005, 19:40
Lets see... It's the usual size of a 50 year old, a baby in dragon years. The wing shape is slightly off, but he HAS been in a jar for years. What stumps me is that it IS the size of a 50 year old, meaning that 50 years ago, dragons were around. Then the umbilical cord. Dragons are born in eggs.
Comment icon #119 Posted by vertigoflow on 5 November, 2005, 0:44

if it is 2.2 pounds and 3 foot high with a wingspan of 17 inches then it is REAL....but if is 5.95 pounds and 16 inches high with a wingspan of 30 feet it wouldn't fit in the jar.....must be fake

Comment icon #85 Posted by crisi on 14 March, 2005, 21:28
Actually guys, as much as I would like to believe, it isn't real. After they removed this creature, it was found to be latex. And it was also created by a company called "Crawley's Creatures."
Comment icon #84 Posted by saphira on 6 March, 2005, 3:40
dont talk to Dragon LOVER like that Lone_wolf_eyes, ive sen wat hes capable of. hes my friend. so if meet up with him, WOW BOY, watch out for side swing fist. and i think its you who should go see a psychitrist and also, why dont you sign up for a freak school. so don't worry Dragon LOVER, im on your side. i think the dragon is real.
Comment icon #83 Posted by lone_wolf_eyes on 4 March, 2005, 23:40
and if YOU had contined to read it also says and I quote from BBC NEWS " In fact the dragon was created by Crawley Creatures, the model makers behind TV's Walking with Dinosaurs, and the jar was made by a specialist glass blowing studio in the Isle of Wight."
Comment icon #82 Posted by lone_wolf_eyes on 4 March, 2005, 23:32
ya and there have been millions of people that have witnessed aliens too but we havent proven that they exist and cant say EXACTLY what they look like. so what makes your book so speical. And, about that show-off class *shudders in her boots* o im so scared. Ill go when you go to both a psychitrist and a class where you learn how to burn!
Comment icon #81 Posted by dragon lover on 3 March, 2005, 3:52
and one last thing, the book ive got is 2076 pages long. and the stories are all about people who witnessed dragons, even whole crowds of people.
Comment icon #80 Posted by dragon lover on 3 March, 2005, 3:48
The reason i wasn't on the local media is because i never showed it to anyone, not even my best friends. and about that link, if yu read the whole thing, they said they're not sure if its real because scientists never tested it. So THERE!! (Sticks out tongue) OH, and about that insult that yu mentioned, why don't yu go to a show-off class. it might help yu to say that kind of stuff to yur parents.
Comment icon #79 Posted by lone_wolf_eyes on 2 March, 2005, 23:37
MWAHHA! And I bring you Proof!!!! (...) follow this link and you will come to a picture of Allistar Mitchell and whats this...the dragon in a jar and the whole news coverage on it. And Im really sorry folks for writing so many comments in a row. I promise Im done now
Comment icon #78 Posted by lone_wolf_eyes on 2 March, 2005, 23:19
and to cap off my little jitter, you say you have a book about dragons. So do I. I have lots of books on dragons. and each one "proves" that dragons are real. but each one is a STORY. See. STORY. and I read alot. but i dont let the STORIES get to my head like it has appeared to done to you. So do us all a favor and go watch Dragon Tales and wish upon your "Dragon Scale" to go to another world.
Comment icon #77 Posted by lone_wolf_eyes on 2 March, 2005, 23:10
*rolls eyes* give it a rest Dragon LOVER. sure I believe in dragons and all but your story is buried 12 feet under. funny how youve uncovered a dragon scale yet your face isnt plastered all over the local media. Go to therpy Dragon LOVER ill even help pay for it, cuz honestly i dont know what your on or whats wrong with you. no one has proved anything about dragons. im sure atleast one of us (other than you because your head is to far in the clouds) would have also heard of this "proof of dragons"
Comment icon #76 Posted by dragon lover on 28 February, 2005, 23:05
And to answer yur question Lone_wolf_eyes, I have a book all about dragons and even proof that they existed. I once went to a dino dig, on a feild trip. And guess what I found. A DRAGON SCALE! I even tried to scratch it with my dads long-hand saw. Not a SINGLE scratch!
Comment icon #75 Posted by dragon lover on 28 February, 2005, 23:00
To explain it to yu MJB222, if the weight of it was 3.25 lbs, and the length would be 2.2 ft, and the length of the wings where 17 in, then that equals FAKE! But the true weight of the dragon is 5.9 lbs, and the length of the body is 3 ft, and the length of the wings are 20 in. That spells R.E.A.L.... Oh, and the color would be brown because, if yu look under the neck, it's yellow. An embryo of an animal that was brown and put in a jar after birth, then it would turn yellow and then white.
Comment icon #74 Posted by invader_zim_fan on 26 February, 2005, 8:14
I... Don't belive in dragons.. But dragons are pretty marvelous creatures, yes? Love those guys. I think it's fake, but I could be wrong. It'd be so cool if dragons were alive and stuff. Just so long as they don't eat us. That would be painful.
Comment icon #73 Posted by lone_wolf_eyes on 25 February, 2005, 2:44
I question DragonLOVER and all who join him, mostly for DragonLOVER though. You say you study dragons? How can you study something that there is no proof about? how can you give exact details about something you've never seen. How do you study dragons any way? Everyone has their own opinon about dragons and what they look like. Do you study dragons off of OTHER PEOPLE'S deions, and drawings? You cant base something off of a few peoples deions or drawings. go to www.elfwood.com and see all of ...
Comment icon #72 Posted by marine-bio on 16 February, 2005, 7:08
omg, i really want one too. but hey, most of you have to realize that dragons are...well...Who would belive in dragons? I mean, i like harry potter and i even have a book on dragons but i know they arn't real. its just fun to learn about some cute and noble animal that is MADE up. anyway, about the "dragon-in-a-jar", the jar looks real, but the dragon looks like a painting

i got well excited way back when, when i read about this for the first time. obvious fake though :( Im interested in sightings of dragons throughout history but i think they are related to pterodactyls and other flying dinosaurs that people belive to still be alive today. If youve got time to burn like me, which im sure you have if your on here, then check out some of the stories about them, there kinda cool. dont think there was ever any 'dragon' alive though, espaially that breathed fire, c'mon people ...

from now on lets use our big person voices and cmly debate this. I think it is fake because it is to well preserved for 1890. And also from such a recent time dont you think most people would believe in dragons.

hey evryone, Im doin a year long report on dragons, nessie, bigfoot, whatever, to see what their origins were, whether they were real or not, for school, dont ask me my age, becuz im on the down low here, Myself, that dragon is real, no way any old guy from 1890's could create a very very good um, whatever you call that, fake, back then, if the author of this section is telling the truth, they didnt have enough technology, based on that, it is real, havent studied any authors yet so i dont know if he did...

Fake. Any search on the Crawley Creature dragon or Allistair Mitchell will show you that. Looks cool though and the dude landed a big publishing contract using it.

Im afraid I have to agree with Dragon Lover on this one....there are way too many fine details to mark it as a fake.

Looks like the numerous 'monsters in a jar' you can buy at novelity shops. You can get dinsosaurs, Extra terestrials, dragons, etc. I had a baby T-Rex in a jar when I was younger, it looked really realistic aswell untill I took it out of the jar and washed it off and realized it was a piece of plastic. Something like this would sell anywhere from $25.00-$200.00 depending on where you got it and the size (can't really tell from teh picture how big the jar/dragon are.)
Comment icon #37 Posted by chewbaca on 19 December, 2004, 5:31
Has anyone seen "walking with dinosaurs"? I heard a puppet maker from that movie carved that from wax or somthing (looks slightly computerized to me anyway)
Comment icon #36 Posted by ark of covenant on 18 December, 2004, 8:51
Well DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!its fake...dragons arent real...sorry to burst your bubbles.
Comment icon #35 Posted by ark of covenant on 18 December, 2004, 8:46
I don't know what to say but that was at one time a real liveing, fire breathing Dragon. Also as a comment; its snout is a little unconvincing. It shows simularitys to a crocidile's snout? but it is still just a baby.perhaps it's would not have been fully developed at that age. I can't realy see its wing joints to well?
Comment icon #34 Posted by dragon lover on 17 December, 2004, 22:41
That's very true.
Comment icon #33 Posted by dragonknowitall on 17 December, 2004, 1:35
I think it real but DNA test would be good
Comment icon #32 Posted by dragon lover on 16 December, 2004, 6:45
I'm sorry people. But it's REAL!!!! If the weight of it was 3.25 lbs, and the length would be 2.2 ft, and the length of the wings where 17 in, then that equals FAKE!
Comment icon #31 Posted by catseye64 on 16 December, 2004, 3:49
It is so fake it is almost real LOL
Comment icon #30 Posted by dragon lover on 16 December, 2004, 1:25
dadoo69, yur an idiot. I told yu I know what a real dragon looks like when I SEE ONE.
Comment icon #29 Posted by dadoo69 on 15 December, 2004, 18:16
Ah, Dragon LOVER......Sorry.....It's fake.....Allistair Mitchell look it up. It is pretty cool though.
Comment icon #28 Posted by dragon lover on 13 December, 2004, 0:27
I'm telling yu, it's real. I study and research dragons. Theres no way that someone in the 1800s could make a modeled dragon from plactic or wax.. I think.
Comment icon #27 Posted by mikey999 on 12 December, 2004, 16:36
Who knows, i think it is real but i cant be sure. As dragons are, or were, so big y is it that we have not found or seen them. If it is a fake it was very cleverly done!...
Comment icon #26 Posted by dragon lover on 11 December, 2004, 7:57
That is definety a real dragon. I happen to know because I study and research dragons. I only wish if they would clone that dragon. I would pay a lot for the clone.
Comment icon #25 Posted by chocolatefairy on 9 December, 2004, 10:27
Being a true mystic, at heart, I would love to view more photographs and see a complete written history on the artifact. It would be a true miracle for the artifact to be actually authenticated. Imagine, a real dragon. If it could be proven to be real then that leaves a wide possability for other mystic remains to be discovered and authenticated. At any rate, it is beautiful. "A fantasy artists dream paper-weight".

stitching a croc? dude no way. i have kept reptiles all my life and that is no way a croc. the neck is too long and the head is totaly rediculous. i believe thhere are rather large reptiles but nothing of the firebreathing type.

of course dragons exist, but this one... I don't know, it looks too animated. Especially the nose.
Comment icon #17 Posted by starlight rose on 15 November, 2004, 10:04
everyone is working on the assumption that dragons are hatched from an egg. since there is no proof of dragons or their reproduction, we dont know for sure how they are born. There for they could be live births with umbilical chords.
Comment icon #16 Posted by ladyapril on 12 November, 2004, 9:37
fakefakefakefakefake
Comment icon #15 Posted by shelby_191 on 10 November, 2004, 1:03
it appears to have an umbilical cord....which it would not have if it hatched from an egg. clever fake tho *thumbs up*
