re: the 1st post: laws of physics arent always right. check out the bee. the "laws" say that its wings are too small to allow flight. yet it does! but seriously, this thing looks AWESOME. i need one of these in my living room or on my roof. (that oughta scare away those annoying birds)

Its more than likely just a fake. But it speaks in volumes of the awesome work some taxidermists can do.

I, personally, don't really believe that this is real. But you all have to realize that when people first started writing about griffins, they described them as APPEARING to be part some kind of large bird, part canine or feline. Some people that claimed to see them also said that all they really could do was hop and kind of glide a few feet. It wasn't until much later on that people made up stories about critters that were literally half lion / half eagle, could soar around all graceful, and were big enough to carry off a horse (or pull around magic chariots). So basically what I t...

So, yeah it looks fake.. But I BELEIVE. lol *twitch*
Comment icon #39 Posted by griffon on 29 May, 2006, 23:09
Yes, but.. If that thing cant fy due to the size of the wngs then what about bumble bees? According to physics bees shouldnt be able to fly and just look at them! Fly about, sting things and collecting pollen. Poor giffon, shot dead. *sob*
Comment icon #38 Posted by samael on 3 April, 2006, 22:08
Shut up. There would be fossils. Definitely a stuffed eagle on the back half of a toy lion.
Comment icon #37 Posted by najaesouljah on 31 March, 2006, 0:11
i know this is fake but has anyone ever proven griffons to have been real at one time?
Comment icon #36 Posted by i wont think a name on 5 January, 2006, 7:25
they could paste some bigger condor wings for being more reallistic and grifons shuld be much larger than horses that looks smaller than a lion!!!
Comment icon #35 Posted by weasel on 19 November, 2005, 4:25
looks like a bad toy Golden Eagle to me stuck on a equally bad toy lion
Comment icon #34 Posted by nessie on 31 October, 2005, 6:42
plus, about the wings comment...who says it is not a baby one and its wings are not yet developed enough? And who ever said they fly?Chickens dont fly,
Comment icon #33 Posted by nessie on 31 October, 2005, 6:39
ok where would some one find a lion small enough....and how wood they obtain the lion?Sneak into a flippin zoo and steal a lion cub, kill it and mount it onj a crow?Or wood they take a casual approach...ask for a dead lion cub?
Comment icon #32 Posted by ilovescience2234 on 30 October, 2005, 23:08

to point out that it has EARS. No eagle has tufty ears like that. The head is definatly constructed... So, those of you who thought you where smart in giving a valid explination of this beastie can shove that up your ass. I posted this because it's cool and i'd love to have it mouted on my bedroom wall. It is fake, we know that, stop screaming it now - you look like an idiot.
Comment icon #25 Posted by hajime on 15 March, 2005, 0:33
this animal would most certainly not be able to fly. This is definatly not the back end of a lion simply stuck onto an eagles body. Firstly, eagles don't get that big... not even big ones, secondly the beak is too big for a bird of that size, too blunt and way too shiny. It's most likly sculpted alogn with the talons. The feathers would have been taken from a large bird, probably gryphon vulture or large eagle... in fact, i'm happy to suggest those wings are probably from a gryphon vulture. I'd also like...

The book was called "the unatural history of the unatural world" not the museum. The book didn't state exacly what danish museum this is from, if it's from any. Also, i beleive this to be fake, as with most of the stuff in the book... but i posted it because it's cool and because it's a valid addition to the gallery. Will people stop screamign fake now? Anyone who believes that a BIRD and a MAMMAL hybrid could exist needs to be shot dead... Other than being biologically impossible,

Its cute^_^ I WANT ONE!
Comment icon #20 Posted by ice_angel_0240 on 15 January, 2005, 2:58
On top of all of that, the beak is too rounded. Eagles' beaks are very sharp. The talons are too dull also. And I agree...its too heavy to be able to fly.
Comment icon #19 Posted by bone_collector on 10 January, 2005, 16:42
What will they think of next? It's such a laughable FAKE!
Comment icon #18 Posted by billyross999 on 2 January, 2005, 8:31

Comment icon #16 Posted by griffin_bandida on 26 December, 2004, 16:03
oh and one more thing, look at the beak, it doesn't look real, even stuffed eagles have the beak a little dirty
Comment icon #15 Posted by griffin_bandida on 26 December, 2004, 16:02
well it's easy to mixture stuffed animals, it's like art, it's easy to put a horn on a rabbit stuffed too
Comment icon #14 Posted by powerpede on 16 December, 2004, 1:45
IF anyone finds a link to a Danish site or finds the museum, please tell me ok? then i've GOT to go there :)
Comment icon #13 Posted by powerpede on 16 December, 2004, 1:43
well... im from denmark myself, i have NEVER heard of it and i really dont think denmark has a "The Natural History Of The Unatural World"-museum. I have Searched the Danish museum database and did not find this so called museum, and on google.dk no danish links or hits on "Nadine Legrand" so sorry... no such thing in Denmark...
Comment icon #12 Posted by captainzaggis on 4 December, 2004, 3:12

Comment icon #5 Posted by yesterdays dirt on 7 October, 2004, 4:33
if it coudl fly, it woudl be very ackward with the large amount of weight on the back side... it woudl like just let the bottom half dangle.
Comment icon #4 Posted by griffin_bandida on 2 October, 2004, 10:21
laserpotato is right, it's easy to stuff a thing like this, and the wings are too small to carry an animal like this, a huge pair of wings and big muscules on the shoulder would carry this animal
Comment icon #3 Posted by tamathea on 27 September, 2004, 13:17
It's a lion shoved up an eagles butt.
Comment icon #2 Posted by azraelschroeder on 15 September, 2004, 4:20
nice ^^ reminds me of the miniature dog figurines you find at the malls, with real fur on them (though frankly, those things freak me out...who would put dead hair on something then collect them?!)
Comment icon #1 Posted by laserpotato on 7 September, 2004, 23:59
Wow, I'm amazed at how people have never noticed how incredibly FAKE this thing is. I mean, look! It dosen't take a genius to figure out they glued a bird onto a lion and stuck some ears on it. Plus, the laws of physics state that the wings are insufficient to carry the weight of that thing.
