Uploader comment: The Templeton/Cumberland Spaceman Photo. "When Jim Templeton took this charming picture of his 5 year old daughter in the English countryside in May 1964, once it was developed in a Kodak laboratory a spaceman was found appearing on it. There was no tampering with the negatives."

Image status: UNEXPLAINED This famous photograph was taken by Jim Templeton in 1964 near the Solway Firth, after it was developed he noticed a strange figure in a white suit standing behind his daughter in the shot. Templeton insisted that there was nobody around when then the photograph was taken and to this day it remains unexplained.

to me the first time I saw it the white thing looked like a large hair bow. The 'head' part is the shadow of the bow's other side. If it is a person then it is definitely the back view of that person, but he is standing in a very awkward position. The head does not make sense to be a beekeeper as then his head would have to be completely turned around to face in the direction of the child which would be impossible since it is a back view.

Well there was and is to this day (my family live in cumbria) a nuclear power site and dump for waste. Also the rockets sent to australia from cumbria showed men like this surrounding the rocket on cctv. In both instances the men were invisible to the naked eye.

That is clearly a person on the hill. That isn't even a visor, just the back of their head. Interpretation is a wonderful thing...!

I don't know what it could be! I do know that things can be faked very easily! 15 yrs ago,whilst on cub camp,our scout troop mocked up a ufo landing! Believe me it looked very real! Scared the crap outta all of us so much,the scouts told us straight away what they had done!

All the evidence says is that the photo has not been tampered with. All we have to go on as far as the paranormal aspect of this photograph is the word of the photographer. It could very well be a prop. Just because some cat says "It wasnt there when I took the picture" doesnt make this a smoking gun.

If the photo was taken recently i'd definetly vote fake,but i do think it's genuine(though i have no idea what that *thing* may be)regarding the date of the photo,its being not proven to be fake and of course the relatively credible story circulating it.Who knows,we might have the real deal here..

This shot has been on TV. When it is shown on TV there is another supposidley identical photograph that has been framed and placed on the wall of where these people live...BUT...the unknown entity pops up on the other side of the girls head...Mmmm I think this is a fake.

Yeah I read in a mag years ago about this, the anatomy of the figure in the background would suggest it is not facing the camera, but it is a genuine photo, as far as the content goes. It's a very old one. Who or what the figure in the background is, in unknown.

Looks like a bald guy with his back to the camera or a jewish guy and hes wereing a yarmulka. Also if it were a cloud it would look simalar to the clouds in the background.

i'm sure you have heard of the mysterious "men in black" well after Jim Templeton had taken this photo of his daughter he was later visited by these strange men in dark suits. they according to Jim started to ask him strange questions about the incident, then told him that he saw nothing and not to tell anyone about the photo. later on these "men" took Jim in their black car to the exact spot where the spaceman was and left him behind forcing him to walk 5 miles back home

yea i agree if it was a cloud it is a very oddly shaped one!!!! about the visor look at it its black, if it was a cloud it would at least be white or blue like the sky but it ain't!

this picture is thought to be the real deal. it was proved that it in fact is not a double exposure or has been photoshopped. so whatever it is, it was there at the time the photo was taken. however, if it was a "blown-up spaceman" i'm pretty sure the photographer would notice it behind his daughter! i've read somewhere that when this was developed it gave Jim Templeton the utter creeps. to me the spacesuit doesn't even look like a normal suit used by NASA. also if someone was behind her, they ...

lmao has someone put this on here as a joke???? Either someone is behind her holding up a toy above her head or it is a blow-up spaceman that flew away from its owner and over a hill.
