Here's your chance to smell like a comet... if you can stand it. Image Credit: NASA/JPL
A British company has created a peculiar new perfume which matches the otherworldly aroma of comet 67P.
There have been some unusual perfumes over the years, but this one, which has actually been commissioned by the European Space Agency itself, is perhaps one of the strangest of them all.
The scent, which has been developed by The Aroma Company, is based on a chemical analysis of the data recorded by the Philae lander when it touched down on comet 67P back in 2014.
If you were thinking of trying the new perfume out however you might want to reconsider - the aroma has been described as a cross between "rotten eggs, cat urine and bitter almonds."
This pungent odor is due to high levels of ammonia, methane and sulfur dioxide - a concoction that would likely send your date running for the exit if you tried wearing it on a night out.
Those who do want to experience what a comet smells like for themselves however can pick up a bottle at the upcoming summer science exhibition of The Royal Society in July.
