I'm always amused reading these threads. I've got over 40 tats myself. Injecting ink in the eyes is a whole different level though. ::edit:: Holy ^@% ... so I just now actually read the article. This guy did this himself, in his home? ... wow...alright... I know an artist who was all amazed when a big burly skinhead came in and got a tattoo right against his eye. He was astonished that his needle hit the guys eye lid and he didn't even blink. I wonder what he would have to say about this one.

I've heard about people tat'ing their eyes.. Sounds too painful for me, although I don't mind other tats.

The man is an enthusiast, I guess. Pardon me for my lack of awe. It is likely he has made a livelihood of being an oddity, maybe even makes a livin at it. Life on the fringes is more interesting.

We must understand the reasons why certain people do this and other forms of body modifications. Many times, it is society that forces them to become like that. Some people are born with physical deformities or defects and they have been judged negatively by society because of these imperfections. Really? You think many of the people who have a lot of tattoos are covering deformities? The puzzle man doesn't look deformed to me. Neither does checkerboard guy.

I can tell you as a professional tattoo artist and body modifier of over 15 years experience, that this is not only unsafe, but stupid as well. Unless you plan on being a side show freak til the day you die, there is no need tattoo wise or fashion wise, why anyone would or should do this. I have done some crazy stuff at a clients request, both with tattoos and piercings, and I would not recommend it to any of them. Sounds to me, its more of a case of major narcissism. He just wants people to see him in his light, and he wants to see you in a green and blue light, lol. He obviously doesnt know ... [More]

Sorry, also forgot to mention, that this is not an actual tattoo nor does it utilize a tattooing proceedure. They actually use a hyperdermic needle to inject the ink into the eye. If it is done too shallow, it can bleed under the cornea, and if done too deep, well, lets just say you wont be able to see how bad it looks when your done.

To be fair, the guy in the article says that is precisely why he got started. Well, actually he said he likes body mods because he has birth defects. Not that he was trying to disguise deformities. It seems more of a 'defects are cool' thing to him rather than a 'must hide my mutations 'cause I scare small children' thing.

I hadn't thought about the ink bleeding thing.. I think I was to distracted by the whole in the eye part. The more I think about this the more it seems like a horrible decision. I'm still iffy enough about UV ink that I haven't gotten some of the stuff I want in my skin yet. A needle, or ink, near my eye? ugh

....'I'm not crazy. I'm trained. I have a lot of experience. I picked different colours because I like mutations because I have birth defects.' ....Mr Gone said he began tattooing his body 20 years ago to disguise physical deformities, but did not give any further details. Sooo, he's ashamed of his birth defects or physical deformities but is quite happy to be covered in man-made designs. Interesting...
