Pterosaurs used "pole vault" takeoff

According to a new study pterosaurs would have "pole vaulted" in to the air when taking off.
Unlike modern birds prehistoric winged reptiles would have pushed off using their hind limbs and then thrusted themselves upwards using their arm muscles in a similar manner to modern bats.A new study claims that the ancient winged reptiles known as pterosaurs used a "pole-vaulting" action to take to the air. They say the creatures took off using all four of their limbs.
