A beautiful lamassu! We have one similar to that at the Oriental Institute in Chicago, including a number of orthostats as seen adjacent to the lamassu in your photo. Assyria was a fascinating empire.

Yes it is beatiful.You must love Assyrians.Sumerians called them Lamma. Akkadians called them Shedu.

A point of interest: Notice the stylized horns on the helmet. They depict the status of the god being rendered. The more horns... the greater the standing in the pantheon of gods. Very nice work eh?
