There have been many strange and inexplicable cases of people disappearing over the years, this article takes a look at a few high profile examples.
Paranormala: I remember reading as a kid about Benjamin Bathurst, David Lang and Oliver Larch. All three have strange stories of inexplicable disappearance. There are no accounts of UFO’s carrying them off, no portals to other dimensions, and no murderous intrigues. They simply were there one moment, and gone another. I recently revisited these stories with a skeptical eye to see what I could come up with."

I doubt organised crime is the explanation behind it though! But, you never can tell........... Haha, I have my doubts too. It was more for a few giggles. Although, I'm certain a few cases may be involved. Their hired goons sure love to whack those who oppose.

Getting a bit irritated she asked in a louder voice: Are yo going to answer me? Nothing but silence came from the other side of that bush. Ruth was now getting angry and walked around to Jenny's side to give her a tongue lashing but was met with nothing but blackberry bush. Confused by this she thought her daughter was playing a game with her and she circled the bush 3 times calling out in anger that, this was not funny Jenny! and you had better stop! However, Jenny was nowhere about! Hmmm.... for starters, the conversation they were having was probably extremely annoying to Jenny. Young girls... [More]

Hmmm.... for starters, the conversation they were having was probably extremely annoying to Jenny. Young girls don't appreciate having their crushes analyzed to bits by older family members. How obnoxious and insensitive. If I were her I would have snuck off. Blueberry bushes are dense (in terms of foliage) and can grow to be 6 feet high. The fact that the mother walked around the bush shows that she couldn't see over it. Why would she walk around if she could see that her daughter wasn't on the other side? It would have been easy for an embarrassed girl to walk away in anger and/or embarrassm... [More]

Siara, Obviously you weren't reading very closely. It was blackberries not blueberries.

I am reminded of a story told to me by an adult neighbor when I was about 13. This incident too place in the year 1938. Seems there was a family, father (Ed), mother (Ruth), son (Tommy) and daughter (Jenny) that decided to go pick blackberries in the Allegheny National Forest one Sunday afternoon. It was a bright sunny day. Ed and Tommy went off to one section while Ruth and Jenny to another. They always worked in teams to strip each bush so as not to miss a berry. Since it was a popular spot there were in fact several people picking within yards of each other. Ruth and Jenny always started at... [More]

Siara, Obviously you weren't reading very closely. It was blackberries not blueberries. Oops... sorry. But the mother walked AROUND the bush looking for the kid. That means that she couldn't see OVER the bush. That means the bushes were blocking her view. Right? So it would be easy for the kid to slip away. If the mom could see that the kid wasn't on the other side of the bush she wouldn't have needed to walk around it, right? Ruth was now getting angry and walked around to Jenny's side to give her a tongue lashing

Its what's termed a: Instantaneous Interspacial Quantum Molceulcar Transference. In realilty I dunno, kidnapped? Run aways? Not uncommon really :S If this story is accurate and not just a spooky story told to a child (and with it being 1938 and ther being only first names, it's not so easy to check that on the hoof), I wonder if the key to the disappearance may rest with one of the other pickers who were "within yards of each other". Perhaps one of these other pickers saw their moment, grabbed the child and made a clean getaway.
