Plans to conduct a sample return mission to Mars are still in progress with the UK forwarding its bid to host a study facility at which the Martian rocks would be studied upon their return to Earth. It is thought the mission itself could go ahead within 20 years.
Rocks from Mars could be brought to the UK within the next 20 years, if a bid to host a study facility is successful. The European and US space agencies want to send a mission to the Red Planet to collect and return geological samples. "
