A dangerous spider with enough venom to kill a human has taken up residence in Britain following a series of mild winters. The False Widow has a purple and black appearance and came to the UK from the Canary Islands.
A dangerous spider related to the Black Widow is spreading across Britain because of climate change, experts have warned. The False Widow, a purple and black creature with a body the size of a 1p piece, is said to carry enough venom to kill a human."

Oh I can believe that If I as much as see a spider in our bedroom at night, I won't go to bed until my husband has caught it and put it outside We get absolutely huge ones. There was one last year I think, which was nearly the size of my hand! Lets be thankful we dont live in Austrailia where they have the funnel web spiders, Brazil has the bananna spiders and both those have the potential to be leathel, I live in Australia and I only think I've seen those funnel webs get this big in the zoos. They arn't a commonplace around Melbourne, come here, not Sydney where they are said to be in larger numbers.

Seriously tho... the Purseweb Spider isn't poisonous, or deadly, surely? There are no such deadly wildlife predators in England, including snakes; that humans have to worry about. er... right? No it is not deadly, venomous yes, all spiders are venomous, but their venom is not based around killing us hence so few spiders are considered medically important and even less are considered deadly. The UK generally lacks dangerous animals, we have 1 venomous snake and that is not likely to ever kill you (it can kill a small child). We have no large carnivores (our largest at present is the badger) A r... [More]
