Were there oceans on ancient Venus ?

A new study based on a map of the planet's southern hemisphere taken by the Venus Express spacecraft has suggested that Venus may have once been a lot more Earth-like with oceans of water and volcanic activity.
Venus may once have been more Earth-like, with volcanic activity and an ocean of water, a new map of the toasty planet's southern hemisphere suggests."
