The number of tigers left in India has fallen significantly in recent times with the government admitting that nobody had seen a Bengal tiger in Panna National Park since January. There are now thought to be less than 1000 left.
The Indian government admitted this week that nobody has seen a Royal Bengal tiger in Panna National Park since January. Only a year ago there were calculated to be 24 tigers in the park, one of India’s 27 tiger reserves. "

And some wonder why many of us concider humans a parasite of the worse kind... Imagine how many forests, trees, natural lakes, animals, healthy air, etc there would be, without us as a blight...

Or if humans learned to live with, not try to control nature. Nothing's perfect. Never will be. However alot less species of animals would be going extinct because of human actions if they'ed stop unnecessary hunting and destroying of things.

Worst thing is there is more in captivity in the US than in the wild I feel so lucky I got to see one. I've wanted to for a long time and was always terrified that they would be gone before I had the chance, poor tigers I agree. Not only are there wild-caught captive tigers in the US, but all the other zoos around the world as well. And what's their reason for keeping these animals? To educate people on how to preserve the natural wildlife... No thanks, I'd rather learn about tigers on TV.

sadly if we release all the tigers in the zoos.. they'll be slaughtered by these idiot potchers and we won't have *any* chance to even remotely save them.

The problem with the captive ones are the stupid idiots who keep them don't care how they breed them so they have become generic tigers.

I get quite upset about this issue. I've stopped going to zoos and attractions which have white tigers. A local Zoo and amusement park near me has recently put up a sign about white tigers and how they are not a species to be saved, but are actually harming the tiger's chance of survival. The captive animals accross America and other parts of the world are mostly genetically useless for replenishing the Bengal tiger species, as they are hybrids of bengal and siberian, or have suffered severe imbreeding. The saddest thing is that this seems mostly unheard of by the world, specifically the media... [More]

For those who don't know... Tiger is the national animal of India. So sad.. Unbelievably sad.
