The mystery surrounding the discovery of methane on Mars has deepened as new data has revealed that the gas is being produced far quicker on Mars than on Earth and suggesting the presence of either life or volcanism or both.
Methane on Mars is being produced and destroyed far faster than on Earth, according to analysis of recent data.Scientists in Paris used a computer climate model for the Red Planet to simulate observations made from Earth.

Funny how we focus all our attention on trying to solve overpopulation and the problem of lessening natural resources here on Earth, while a whole new world awaits in the form of Mars, rich in minerals and land, and yet also very much like Earth. If we had continued with the space exploration programs at a much faster rate, we would be mining asteroids and Mars, and already put our first people on Mars, and have a Lunar colony by now.

We will never make things better here, until we reach out there.

The presence of methane on Mars is intriguing because its origin could either be life or geological activity - including volcanism. The Volcans are living there in underground caves, thats why.

Yes, I agree. Instead of using technology to try and figure out how to kill with it more efficiently, we should have been using it to better humanity and reach f... [More]

Or maybe every sentient species is doomed to wipe themselves out. If we look at computer or biological viruses in Nature, then compare their behaviors and characteristics to the human species, we realise that we humans are very much like viruses. Perhaps it would be better that we wipe ourselves out, rather than colonising other worlds and destroying potential breeding grounds for future species with our reckless abuse of our environments.
