Google UFO doodles are H.G. Wells tribute

Google's recent UFO themed doodles have been revealed as a tribute to H.G. Wells, the pioneering author who penned classic science fiction novels such as The Time Machine, The Invisible Man and The War Of The Worlds.
The solution to the mystery of Google's UFOs has finally been revealed - and it was all a tribute to the father of the alien-invasion story as we know it.

I think it was on twitter. Anyways, tribute to HG Wells! And I really like his books especially The Invisible Man Thanks PotterManiac

I had to actually go peek at my google page today. Most of the time I kind of forget to look at the image.

I see they use the flying saucer means of transportation, whereas in the book the Martians were fired out of a giant cannon. Although at least they haven't tried to transplant it to New York, like most Hollywood versions try to.
