A 22-year-old student from Portsmouth suffers from a rare phobia which renders her terrified of vegetables. The condition known as lachanophobia affects only a few thousand people in Britain.
Vicki Larrieux, a 22-year-old student from Portsmouth, claims she is unable to keep to a healthy diet because she is frightened of vegetables. She suffers from a fear known as lachanophobia, which leaves her sweating and stricken with panic attacks at the merest sight of a sprout or a pea.

Maybe she ate the dried-out Brussels Sprouts I had to eat as a child. I didn't touch a sprout for 25 years, I was so traumatized.

I don't understand. Why is she afraid of carrots but yet able to eat potatoes when both are vegetables?

I don't understand. Why is she afraid of carrots but yet able to eat potatoes when both are vegetables? Clearly potatoes are just not vegetably enough to trigger her terror...

When I was just a youngster I used to make myself cinnamon toast all the time. One day I decided that the more cinnamon I put on the better it would be. Needless to say, I was painfully wrong. This caused me to develop a real fear of cinnamon. After roughly 4 decades I am just now able taste it or add a scant amount if a recipe calls for it (typically I cut the quantity by 3/4). However, for 40 years I wouldn't even get near it.
