Plans to determine the trajectory of an asteroid that might hit Earth in 2036 may be foiled by funding cuts.
The Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico could be used to more accurately predict whether the asteroid Apophis will hit our planet but another two to three million dollars will be needed to fund the observations required.
Plans to more precisely plot the orbit of an asteroid with a small chance of hitting Earth in 2036 may be badly hit by funding cuts to a US radar facility.
