Thousands of spectators turned up to watch people being nailed to crosses to mark Good Friday.
The bizarre practice is intended to mark the day that Jesus died, participants are genuinly nailed to a cross and crucified for a time in front of large crowds of spectators who turn out to the event every year on Good Friday.
Devout Filipinos have been nailed to crosses and whipped in an annual ritual to mark Good Friday. Dozens of people were crucified in villages across the Roman Catholic country, in one of the world's most bizarre practices to mark the day when Christians believe Jesus Christ was put to death.

It's funny how their religion is based around some half-dead naked Jew nailed to a piece of wood and arose as a zombie 2 days later. A religion based on suffering. Sounds peaceful.

We crucified our singer in a band I used to be in. http://www.vimeo.com/875212 For as fun as it was to be in that band it sure did suck that the music was so terrible....

The Philippines has a majority Catholic believer population, and many Filipinos are much more religious in a scale than western countries like the USA are expressing theirs. Mount Carmel pilgrimages are known in the USA, but no American is known to reenact the very brutal harmful act of crufixicion to one-self to profess a belief of Jesus and the Christian faith. No matter how dramatic and shocking for anyone to watch a crufixicion performed, I say one will have a stronger learning experience on Easter.

As devotional and brave as it is, it is also quite barbaric

It smacks of masochism to me ,Surely no God would want his followers to undergo such torture ,having experienced it himself fullywired

I may be an ass but I am assuming you are deciphering Jesus the Christ of Nazareth as the only God of the Universe.... ?
