In search of giant snakes

Mike and Greg Warner have released new footage showing evidence of a large snake near a settlement in Peru.
The footage follows on from photographs that were released last year during an expedition to Peru in search of giant snakes, the pair are hoping to return later this year to find conclusive photographic and DNA evidence.
In November 2009 we commissioned and released photographs of the trail left by a giant snake outside Iquitos, Amazon, Peru. Now we have located video coverage of the same event complete with more eye-witness interviews. The video is in Spanish but we have provided a full translation to English below.

This search for the existence of giant snakes seems to be as fruitful as Bigfoot researchers. You forget that snakes (and reptiles and crocs in general) keep growing as long as they are able to stay alive. If these critters are able to stay away from humans for a long time (and not get eaten by other preditors), they are able to grow to gigantic proportions. And the older these beasties get, the smarter they get.

This search for the existence of giant snakes seems to be as fruitful as Bigfoot researchers. At least the BF researchers have apparently seen what they say they've seen. I have a small muddy brook in my backyard, I always thought it was just a part of nature but now? I have evidence of a giant snake! You can't use a river moving in an S shape as evidence of a giant snake, much like saying a random hair or one tree leaning against another is proof of Bigfoot, or Doug the UFOlogist woke up feeling odd is proof of abduction. It takes physical, living breathing evidence to prove the existence of ... [More]

And the older these beasties get, the smarter they get. Well, since you mentioned crocs. I don't know much about snakes, I guess they grow in the same manner? But with Crocs, they grow to the largest sizes we see by eating more food than their body needs. Once they've consumed as much as they need to, any other food intake is conve... [More]

They said that it was probably 5 meters wide! I don't think any land animal could be that wide and still function. Wouldn't this snake need to eat dozens of cattle per month to just stay live? I agree that it would be so easy to track and follow that it would seem to be pretty easy to find. We are not talking an 8 foot, 800 pound animal like Bigfoot here. We are talking hundreds of tons and a hundred feet long.

I would love for there to be a gianormous snake living somewhere in South America, but those pictures are just from flooding.

I read the article and I haven't found any proof. My kitchen is 4m wide 5m long and 3m high, can't imagine a section of a snake that size. This animal, if he existed several million years ago would have eaten a T-rex for snack(e).

While I was in Tanzania, I was noticing the occasional small path leading away from the main road into the jungle. At one point, I asked the guide where these paths led, and the guide told me they led to wherever the elephants were going. I was surprised to find out that when an elephant walks through a jungle, it leaves behind a path barely two feet wide. Somehow, I doubt this snake was the one leaving the tracks. I am not bumping this thread for fun, but a minute ago I linked to my post about Peru in this thread in a new thread, just to see that I had forgotten to reply to your post, Aquatus... [More]
