Concerns have been raised over declining populations of snakes in various regions across the globe.
Studies have shown an alarming decline in snake populations following examination of records for eight species. The exact cause is not yet known however it is believed that it could be down to a number of factors including global warming.
Snakes may be declining across the world, according to a global study. Researchers examined records for 17 snake populations covering eight species over the last few decades, and found most had declined markedly.

Hate to break it to ya bro but the human race is barbaric. I hate snakes myself ever since I was a kid and my brother threw a dead one at me. Then decided it would be funny to stick it in my bed. I also hate mice, spiders and bees. Guess its also barbaric of me to kill these creatures as well???? I'm sure none of you have killed an innocent creature before Reptiles are my favorite types of animals. I won't be killing a reptile unless it's attacking me. In the case of snakes I like them more than dogs and cats.

People killing them on sight and with pesticides, urban sprawl and the pet industry all contribute. Personally, I like all reptiles and killing them just because they are snakes is barbaric in my opinion. sadly not enough people share this opinion, people are too fast to grab a shovel and kill.people near me are scared of blue tongue lizards for crying out loud.!!humanity kills out of fear...they need to try the flight reflex next time instead of the fight one

What's just as bad is the fact that a renowned venom collector just died and consequently, as they are also practically extinct, it will be doubly harder to obtain anti-venom. Word-don't get bit by a poisonous snake unless you are in a huge modern city.

I used to see slow worms, grass snakes and adders (well.... they look like snakes) all the time where i live in Surrey, UK. I have not seen a single one in the last 8 years or so.... strange.

I've not killed an 'innocent' creature, at least not on purpose. I've stepped on the occasional snail by accident. But why should we kill any animal, just because we don't like them? Reminds me of a woman that I heard recently on the radio, calling for the destruction of all wasps simply because she doesn't like them. Besides upsetting the ecological balance, it would be shame that any animal goes extinct. Even the so called ugly and vicious ones. we kill because we can ..simple.humans are the biggest bullies under the suni can relate to killing out of fear as i have killed countless spiders.b... we kill because we can ..simple.humans are the biggest bullies under the sun i can relate to killing out of fear as i have killed countless spiders.but i got to a stage in life where i swore i would never kill out of fear again..unless a human scares me,id be more likely to kill a human than any other creature these days.im not saying humans deserve to die, they just deserve to be treated equally to everything else.the day something big and strong enough to wipe us out comes along,i imagine everybody will share my views.. I disagree about the point of seeing human as the biggest bullies. What a... [More]
