It looks like a donkey but has a zebra's stripes and instincts - meet the zedonk, a cross between a donkey and a zebra.
The unusual animal was born at Chestatee Wildlife Preserve, despite zebras and donkeys living together there for over 40 years this was the first time they had mated and produced offspring.
The animal is a mix between a zebra and donkey. With black stripes prominently displayed on her legs and face, her zebra heritage is readily apparent, but her slender face and spindly legs are more donkeylike.

Zedonk? Sounds like a French footballer. Surely it's either a Debra or a Zonkey.

Thank you for posting this Still Waters! I volunteer at this preserve quite a bit & will be having a fundraiser for CWP in the fall. I haven't been to see the baby yet, but I hope to next week. She's adorable!

I worked at a petting zoo that had one of those. Half Mule, Half Zebra, All Mean! They kept the thing where people couldn't get too close to it, when it got in a mood it would bite onto anything that came within range.

Sounds like the poor thing wasn't socialized from the beginning. My parents have donkeys, horses & mules. One donkey/mule hybrid named Donkey Kong (I know..) still tries to bite me now & then. The first time I met him he chomped down on my forearm. Turns out they got him from a man who used him in Nativity scenes and the kids would abuse him & mistreat him.

Oh...you know what I'm sure when I was small there was a zoo or animal sanctuary that had one of these, I remember my mum laughing at the name of it. And I'm sure it was in the East Anglia area, hmmmm next time I see her I will have to ask her.

This already happened at my local zoo (Oaklawn Farm Zoo) in Nova Scotia over 10 years ago, they called it a "Zonkey".
