Star Wars 3D holograms 'close to reality'

3D holograms such as that seen in Star Wars are one step closer to becoming a reality.
Previous attempts at producing a real-time hologram have suffered from long update times but now a team at Arizona University have managed to get the update time down to just two seconds.Ever since Princess Leia used a hologram of herself to ask Obi Wan Kenobi for help in the film Star Wars, scientists have been trying to harness the same technology for real.
