Glen Kuban investigates a carving that resembles a Stegosaurus on the Ta Prohm Temple in Cambodia.
Don Patton, Carl Baugh and their associates have argued that the unusual carving on the temple is that of a Stegosaurus that the artist allegedly witnessed in person, but can this really be the case or is there a more conventional explanation ?
Young earth creationists Don Patton, Carl Baugh, and some of their associates and followers have argued that a stone carving on the wall of the Ta Prohm temple in Cambodia was based on a live Stegosaurus dinosaur seen by the artist.

I have a few crazy observations on this Cambodian relief. If it's a lizard, it would make sense that it is standing on a flower. Hence the petals rising up behind it. But, to me it does look like a large dinosaur of some type. Maybe it's supposed to be a baby stegosaurus; thus the lack of spikes on the tail. Some dino researchers have been recently speculating on the changes dinosaurs went through as they aged. And have suggested that the number of "species" of different "types" be reduced. Now for the crazy stuff! Look at what it is standing on; looks like a large lizard with a googly eye. Th... [More]

If we use Occam's razor (careful don't cut yourselves)in all likelihood it is either a fictional creature or a stylized representation of a locally known animal like a lizard or rhino. As for the claims of Young Earth Creationists (snigger sorry couldn't help it) if it validates your beliefs then run with it and ignore any evidence no matter how overwhelming it may be to the contrary.

For those who were asking about ancient people's fossil hunting: The first Fossil Hunters A review. Thanks for sharing that! Very interesting!

The same motif of leaves in the panels with the animals is repeated many times with other animals on the same doorway. Stegosaurs don't have horns from the back of their heads either, but they do have tail spikes, which would be missing on this creature. Not all rhinos have a horn. Young and females often only have a bump, which could easily be that bump near the top of the head. If you read up on this, it is decorative Artwork that is part of a Temple. All the animals in the decorations are stylized. All of them. Not all Stegasaurs have spikes on the tail.

Please name single dinosaur that was dug up by ancient Greeks. The Greeks thought they were the bones of ancient heroes. Likely no dinosaur bones though. Ancient accounts of the bones of heroes like Ajax, as well as giants and monsters from the remote past, can be explained by the presence of the fossil remains of mastodons, mammoths, giant giraffes, rhinoceroses, cave bears and other large animals found in the eastern Mediterranean region. Not suprisingly, modern paleontology demonstrates that prehistoric fossils exist in the very places where myths about giant beings first arose. As the Gree... [More]

Yeah, they found a lot of extinct mammals, but that's very different from finding, let alone digging up dinosaurs. Mammal remains in some cases aren't even fossilised, and, especially when it comes to large or robust animals like mastodons and elephants, they tend to be well-preserved and plentiful. Dinosaur finds, on the other hand, are only found in deeper layers, are most of the times fragmented and extremely fragile when exposed. Just as a example for the latter, some of the largest bones ever found, a partial vertebra of Amphicoelias fragillimus probably crumbled to pieces not long after ... [More]

If you go to the Natural History Museum (UK) it will let you search by country for where dinosaurs were found. None appear to be found in Greece. The nearest on this site is supposed to be in Romania.
