Scientists have proposed a concept involving the sun that could be used to communicate with aliens.
If the sun's gravity could be utilised in a way so as to create a giant telescope then it could be possible to send and receive highly magnified signals from deep space as well as to see objects extreme distances away in high detail.
If the sun's gravity could be used to create a giant telescope, people could send and receive intensely magnified signals that could allow us to call an alien civilization, some researchers propose.

again with the signals...no matter how detailed they will be, the time to respond is big... its like 'hello is there anybody out there?' ..after 5 years 'yes'

In order to accomplish such a feat as not destroying oneself with the kind of technology we are envisioning, I would assume, carries with it the requirement to develop some kind of moral code and/or spirituality. But there I go assuming. Sounds logical. Great achievements requires great sacrifices. I think before a civilazation can grow to the point of light speed technology, it would take "A LOT" of unity amongst each other and eventually that would bring about a positive light in manner. But at the same time, we cant fully understand ALL other life forms and their ways of thinking.

Unfortunately the few times that humanity has banded together on a global scale involved a powerful common threat (i.e. WWII). As soon as the threat was dealt with we were quick to return to our petty squabbles. This may sound cynical but it may be that the only thing that could unite humanity is the threat of hostile aliens. That's irony for ya. There's also a non-cynical view. If we were certain that we are receiving messages from a civilization in nearby solar system, this would be the most revolutionary discovery in history. Learning more about this civilization would immediately be the fo... [More]

True about WWII. And the alien threat scenerio is also true. I think thats the main reason extraterrestrials dont want contact on a major scale, because if aliens are highly intellectual as people say they are, then they (aliens) already know how that... If we ever find an extra-terrestrial planet with an environment similar to ours to aim at, I think it would be a good idea to try this. Will our fear of hostile alien civilizations stop us from ever trying to contact any potential extra-terrestrial intelligences? The alternative is to sit here quietly and try to remain anonymous. Maybe that's the safest way, but given the basic human desire for discovery and exploration of the unnown, knowing there's a planet out there similar to earth, I think eventually the tension would be too much for us, and we'd decide to try contact.

I'm pretty sure I once read that time is actually speeding up. Not sure if it was atomic clock measurements or some qantum physics thing, just that it was highly scientific and by a very small ammount... Nah mate, you're just having a lot of fun. You know how that can make time fly... Seriously though, if you track down whatever you had read I'd be interested in checking that out. To me, time feels like it is speeding up the older I get. It seems like just yesterday I was becoming a super hero with the mere application of a towel, a baby pin, and an active imagination...
