The elusive Sunda leopard makes its debut as a new species in two locations.
For many years scientists assumed that all clouded leopards were of one species but now after the genetic analysis of two new cats from Borneo and Sumatra ( discovered only within the last 3 years ) it appears this is not the case.
The "newest" cat species described to science, the Sunda clouded leopard, actually exists in two distinct forms, scientists have confirmed.

The thing is, someone somewhere with more money than sense has seen that photo and thought "I would look FAB in a coat made out of that!" and will now endeavour to have one made. (The part where I come up to them and whack their head against the wall sadly remains only in my fantasies...) Beautiful cat.

Now im not sure but I think they can calculate back as the rate of mutation is relatively constant so they compair the DNA.

I want that in my living room! You b****!! Many years ago I was installing an air-conditioning unit in the home of the Mayor of Port Adelaide. An ABC news crew happened to be set up in his lounge room and about to interview him and his wife. The lounge room was pretty gross with a big tiger rug on the floor, elephant foot umbrella stand, deer head above the mantel piece, stuffed owl on a corner table and more of that sort of thing. This was Monday morning and the previous Saturday night some psycho had jumped the fence and slaughtered a whole lot of animals at the Adelaide zoo. In passing the ... [More]

But I didn't say I was gonna butcher the poor thing. I simply wanted it alive so I have something to cuddle with in my living room when I watch a movie. Killing such beautiful animal would be so wrong. No, I wouldn't that.

I'd sooner shoot the thing myself, get the agony over and done with .. stuff it, give it mechanical legs and charge kids $1 a ride ..maybe tastefully install eco-friendly glow lights in it's eyes. zedNuts of give 'em freedom or death pty ltd

The problem with humans is that they want to conquer everything.

That animal is absolutely amazing. A beautiful cat! We'd better get an eyeful now because someone is going to decide that the bones of this animal are an aphrodisiac or come up with some other idiotic reason to hunt it down. I shouldn't use the word hunt as real hunters would work to protect this magnificent animal. Poach is the correct word here. Mhm. People won't be able to keep their hands off it. :I No matter how many people say it's illegal, it'll still happen. Thats sad as we humans are eating their habitats so badly that animals are becoming vulnerable even before we can properly discov... [More]
