Schoolboy forms friendship with jackdaw

In something similar to the 1969 film Kes, a schoolboy has become firm friends with a jackdaw.
In a twist of fiction becoming fact, a wild jackdaw has befriended a schoolboy after tormenting the other students in the school. For the last few months, the bird has been living in the schoolboy's home with his parents and three sisters.
Just like the 1969 film Kes, where a Northern schoolboy tames and befriends a wild Kestrel, the bird and the boy have become firm friends.

Animals are strange. The oddest relationships can happen, and it's like we all know how to communicate with one another. Not with vocalization or body language, but some other connection.

Pretty cool, never see that happen before. I've seen a crow befriend a kitten though. Really? Haha, the crow was probably big enough to carry the kitten around.

I had a boyfriend many years ago that had a similar situation to the boy in the article when he was young; the bird was a crow and the location south Louisiana. The bird simply flew in an open school bus window one afternoon, landed on his shoulder and stayed there until he got off the bus. After that whenever he was outside the bird would be around, on his shoulder or the top of his head. And quite often the school bus scenario was repeated. This went on for a couple of years until the crow just was not around anymore. As for the ability of "lesser" animals to befriend outside of thier own sp... [More]
