Scientists have discovered a way to turn bad body fat into good, calorie burning fat.
In the on-going battle against obesity scientists at Johns Hopkins University have discovered a way to turn bad fat into good fat in rats, a method they hope to be able to repeat in humans. "If we could get the human body to turn bad fat into good fat that burns calories instead of storing them, we could add a serious new tool to tackle the obesity epidemic," says Dr Sheng Bi.
Scientists say they have found a way to turn body fat into a better type of fat that burns off calories and weight. The US Johns Hopkins team made the breakthrough in rats but believe the same could be done in humans, offering the hope of a new way to treat obesity.

Meh. Until they tell me they can get rid of my love handles, I won't get too excited. Well, love handles WOULD be "bad" fat, so you'd have to be covered. Me, I won't get excited until they tell me they can insure me in my next incarnation against the ugly fat I might have if I were anyone else but the exemplary, beautiful, right-now me. *Explosive cackling giggles* J-O-K-E. (Or...is it? ) I think I'll be covered. Let's hope they have it ready by then. Time's running out! I am so doddering-old that I remember where that term "love handles" came from. It was Rhoda's (a TV character spun off from... [More]

PS, that lady who played Rhoda's sister is the voice of Marge Simpson (isn't she?). Which properly notifies me that everyone already knows where the "love handles" term originated, whether they were born yet or not. (Duh, winning!) ---I'm going to miss that one if it goes away.

Seriously, this is a great news. I am 5'10" tall and 200 lbs heavy. I have serious amount of visceral fat. Gotta lose it. I miss the day when I was a super-fit 180lbs heavy guy.

I can just imagine the conversation at weight watchers when someone says.. "Yeah... but it's good fat, not bad fat". You realize those omega 3 fish tablets that so many people take ARE good fat right? Many over weight people, including those with a thyroid problem, are often prescribed good fats like fish oil by a doctor.
