West Texas paintings to get laser study

A prehistoric painting in West Texas is getting the laser treatment for study and preservation purposes.
The scanning process - which will take approximately two weeks - will allow archaeologists to see parts of the paintings that time and Mother Nature have erased. The scientists will also monitor the ever rising level of the nearby Armistad Reservoir which could eventually threaten the cave where the paintings are located.A complex colorful mural painted on canyon walls some 4,000 years ago in West Texas is getting modern laser treatment as researchers try to unlock its mysteries and protect it from the unintended consequences of a nearby reservoir.
