World's first womb transplant planned

Mother and daughter pair hope to be the first participants of a truly successful womb transplant.
A 56 year old British business woman is set to donate her uterus to her 25 year old daughter in what is hoped will be the world's first truly successful transplant of its kind. The first womb transplant occurred in Saudi Arabia in 2000, but the recipient had to give up the organ after 99 days due to complications. If successful, it will allow the woman's daughter, who was born without a uterus, the chance to have children.
Eva Ottosson, 56, has agreed to take part in a groundbreaking new medical procedure, which if successful could see her donate her uterus to her 25-year-old daughter Sara. Doctors hope if the transplant is successful Sara, who was born without reproductive organs, could become pregnant and carry a child in the same womb from which she herself was born.

I think this is awesome. If it works it will give hope to countless women who would otherwise have no choice but adoption or surrogacy.

I think this is great news. Think it would feel a bit weird to have the womb you came out of inside you. Loving this woman - "It's served me well"

I think it's a bit sick that we spend so much effort trying to help people add to our already-overpopulated species rather than trying to help the already-born who are just trying to survive to the next day - especially those in "third-world" countries who are suffering because people in "first-world" countries (like Britain, the USA, etc.) are screwing them over by hogging the resources and contributing the most to climate change.

She was born without a uterus for a reason. Maybe, God didn't want her to reproduce. I feel that there will be complications.

She could always adopt and give child a wonderful life outside of foster care. We need more people to do that kind of thing.

She was born without a uterus for a reason. nope no reason. just a failing of nature. happens all the time unfortunately so much for gods perfect design. anyhow I'm with Squidlet on this one. we really don't need to be helping people make more babies we really have no room for when there are plenty of fine kids already here desperately waiting to find a good home.
