"Owling" takes over from planking craze

Planking is being superceded by an even more peculiar internet craze known as "owling".
Owling involves perching on top of things in a crouching position and staring in to the distance like an owl. Like planking the craze comes with something of a risk factor with individuals being photographed perching in increasingly dangerous positions on top of fences and even statues.
The bizarre internet craze of ‘planking’ is set to lose its cult online status to the increasingly popular trend of ‘owling’. Hundreds of young people in America, Australia and now, Britain, have taken up the new ‘owling’ craze. It consists of nothing more taxing than crouching on one's haunches and staring into the middle distance, like an owl.

Omg. Can these "internet crazes" go away? This is just as dumb as planking! I wish it would go away too. To quote Forrest Gump, "Stupid is as stupid does." This certainly *does* IMO. hahaha They are the future... This is very sad.

Well, back in the 70's there were people on the streets of the big cities particularly San Fran that would put out a collection plate and just stand there like a statue, all day long. And then there are Mimes, but we call that "art". The insanities of the race are really quite boundless. Guess it's better than killing your parents with a hammer after you took some ecstasy. Marginally.

At least standing perfectly still like a statue all day or being a mime takes a degree of effort and skill. Mimes more so. Squatting on your fridge for the 25 seconds it takes to snap a photo does not.
