Well if we were to Grow up on this Rock and quit putting the Blame on Obama, and what ever people read into what hes trying to do we can move on with our goals. Politics and ones ideas about religious point of views should be kept as far away from NASA as possible. Maybe we do need to completly let it go to the private sector. And maybe we all need to vote and elect people that care for our planet. That would be a real good idea as long as there is some kind of profit in it like mining on the moon or perhaps some asteroid then progress would continue baring being smothered by government regulat... There is a rumor the ground crew attending to the flight crew will be dressed as Monkeys, well more into Planet of the Apes costumes. That would be hilarious to see.

From only just over a year ago, May 2010 : I recall hearing this whole speech on radio (ABC via NBC) last year. Obama total commitment to the space program, that included 'manned space flight' more than anything.''Let me make this extremely and absolutely clear; I am 100% committed to the mission of NASA and it's future...'' *sheeple applause* (@ 12:32). ''And in order to reach the space station, we will work with a growing array of 'private' companies competing to make getting to space easier and more affordable...'' (@ 16:20) lol!! if that not a slap in the face to all the genuine hard worki... [More]

Great Job way to go NASA! Dont want to spin this off into politics but lets remember president Bush never funded Constellation nor did the republican congress. Obama stepped into a pile of poo from all the stupid wars(4 trillion and counting) and to a space program Constellation that wasnt funded only a PR gimmick. Whenever anyone goes political, the whole thread gets infected rapidly. I certainly understand that NASA's state at the moment is largely political, but I have to point out a couple things. Constellation was funded. It's not now. PR gimmicks don't have boilerplates built, successful... [More]

And besides, we should be happy...we're going to an asteroid next! Indeed, Lil! And also, for those that don't know, the fantastic Mars Science Laboratory, and the amazing Curiosity rover, launch this November...for Gale Crater on Mars, a massive and stupendously interesting landing site (I sat through the briefing yesterday with my mouth open like a little kid!)... We's going places still!

I'm actually surprised NASA hasn't been fully absorbed and then subsequently transformed into a full fledged wing of the US Military by now. NASA brains behind military endeavors...that's just what we need.

I'm actually surprised NASA hasn't been fully absorbed and then subsequently transformed into a full fledged wing of the US Military by now. NASA brains behind military endeavors...that's just what we need. Yea...just what we need. Why is that? And why are you surprized? Just curious at what's behind your statements. NASA is an Executive Branch agency of the United States Government who's mission it is to "...pioneer the future in space exploration, scientific discovery and aeronautics research." They don't have any responsibility for national defense or the armed forces. They're plenty busy f... [More]
