Real-life Indiana Jones Niall McCann took full advantage of the opportunity to pounce on the snake.
At over 100kg in weight and 18ft in length the anaconda was massive, but even this is dwarfed by tales of even larger snakes in the depths of the rainforest. It is thought that anacondas as long as 50ft may have once lived there and that some that size might still be lurking somewhere in the shadows.
Most people trekking through the jungle would turn tail and run a mile the opposite direction if they came face to face with a giant anaconda. But not Niall McCann. Like a real-life Indiana Jones he decided instead to do battle with the beast - something he said was a lifetime's ambition.
