Cigar-shaped UFOs sighted over Michigan

A witness has reported two cigar-shaped objects travelling soundlessly across the Michigan skies.
The report, which was submitted to the MUFON sightings database, details how the witness observed the objects disappearing behind clouds and never re-emerging. "I could hear no noise from it that I could tell and I also noted that the dark spot toward the object's center may have been due to a change or irregularity in the object's shape and construction," he said.
A Waterford, MI, witness reports watching two cigar-shaped objects with "a dark spot in the centre" crossing the sky without sound that moved into a cloud "and never came out," according to recent testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

@Rhino666 You wrote "Why are 99.9% of UFO's spotted in America?" What a blatantly ignorant statement of the facts! It's about as completely incorrect an assertion as I've ever heard on UM, and doesn't even begin to explain the UFO waves in Europe and South America for example.

Au contraire... Actually, in my research I have come across notions that express the idea that what we today consider to be "cigar-shaped" UFO's were markedly different than what 19th and very early 20th century witnesses were attempting to describe, in that actual smoking cigars during this period were not long and thin as today I don't know where you came up with that idea, but here are pictures of U.S. Grant with a cigar that don't look too different from the modern variety. http://www.antiquemapsandprints.com/p-10074.jpg

They actually used the words 'cigar-shaped' too? Is that air balloon picture an actual witness depiction or is that just for illustration of the shape? just curious. Usually, they were called "mystery airships" or something like that, and they were drawn with all kinds of propellers and things like that, although even William Randolph Hearst admitted that many of the 1896-97 sightings were probably newspaper hoaxes and tall tales.

As you can see from the UFO Evidence, cigar-shaped UFOs have been reported for as long as people have been seeing UFOs--going back to the 19th Century at least. There's nothing knew about those, and in the pre-airplane age they were often reported as "mystery airships". http://www.ufoevidence.org/Cases/CaseView.asp?section=Cigar "Date: , 1952 Location: Puerto Maldonado, Peru On July 19, 1952, the attention of Customs Inspector Sr. Domingo Troncoso was called to a very strange cigar-shaped flying object over the river area. Plume of smoke in the early 1900's, radiation in the 50's. ET seems to have a similar Industrial Revolution both in result and time frame, or private enterprise has always existed. That is what the psychosocial hypothesis(PSH)has always held, that whatever is going on is being interpreted through contemporary culture and society. I would agree with that, although as an ETH-er I also think there is a solid core to this phenomenon that cannot be explained, no matter how much of it we try to calk off to conventional objects, hoaxes, hysteria, manipulation and disinformation by various people in a... I think that if people in the 19th Century had seen something unusual in the sky, then they would generally try to explain it and picture it as something with which the were familiar. This was the era of my great grandmother, who lived in a small rural town that was pretty typical of the time. There were no airplanes, no automobiles, no computers, no radio or television, and needless to say most people were not going to give much thought to aliens and space travel. It was the horse and buggy era, and their idea of something going really fast was a train going 50 miles an hour. They might have ... [More]
