A leading psychologist has claimed that how you hold your drink says a lot about your personality.
Psychologist Dr Glenn Wilson observed the drinking behaviour of 500 people and was able to categorise their personalities based on the results. "The simple act of holding a drink displays a lot more about us than we realise – or might want to divulge," he said.
All revellers fall into one of eight different personality types which are given away by their drinking techniques, a leading psychologist has concluded. Dr Glenn Wilson, a consultant psychologist at King's College, London, observed over 500 drinkers in bars last month.

Why would a psychologist who studies body language, study cancer? No really, I want to know. And you call him a SNIP "bad name". Psychology covers a large arena of subjects. Not all psychologists specialize in the the same field. Yes, some do specialize in health psychology. Whether this guy did or didn't doesn't matter. What matters is that I assume a large amount of time and effort was spent on this incredibly ignorant study and then the findings published. Basically who gives a crap. Could some person's time not be spent on more productive things that could influence a person's life in a po... [More]

Maybe ex crim, jealously guarding - or a coffee addict posing as a drinker aka: similar technique to holding a warm mug of coffee on a cold day. Lol I was kidding but those are the things I thought of after I considered what that would actually look like.

Besides, who are you to tell someone how ... [More]

I guess I'm a browbeater. It's not my fault though, the best beer comes in big glasses.

What is really interesting is that when one talks about micro-expressions of the face or body language, they illicit derision from other posters who think this kind of study on people is bull doo doo. So when I am personally reading a person, get an impression on them and pass that impression on, I am derided in these forums. I have been studying body/face language and new research on it for decades and am derided here for what I have learned if I reflect it here. Meanwhile, this article has accessed interest in many other posters. Go figure! Some of what it tells me is that there are posters ... [More]

Depends on what I am drinking. If there is plenty of wine to go around, then I hold it by the bowl, the stem between the second and third fingers. If not a plentiful amount, then I hold it by the stem, so as not to warm the wine from my hand. A tumbler held beside me palm over the opening, then all finger tips, from the side when drinking it. Whatever a Jack of the ... is, I might be, with a little the Fun Lover, too. A bottle I hold straight up with the opening in my mouth for as long as I can! That is what binge drinkers like to do! LOL! Yes, that is my thoughts too. I hold the glass in many... [More]

Yeah, I have kind of dumped drinking too. Have for the last decade, when my adolescences ended at the age of 38, LOL, when I became pregnant for the first time (that i know of), when I became a mother. Being drunk holds no appeal to me these days. So I no longer hold alcohol-drenched drink ware.
