A factory worker was fired from his job for refusing to wear a '666' sticker believing he'd go to hell.
Billy E. Hyatt was fired from a plastics factory in northern Georgia after refusing to wear the sticker that was intended to emphasise that the factory had been free of accidents for 666 days, the same number that is considered to be the "mark of the beast". Hyatt has since filed a lawsuit seeking punitive damages, the company that fired him have yet to comment on the incident.
A devout Christian factory worker was fired after he refused to wear a 666 sticker he feared would doom him to eternal damnation, a lawsuit has claimed.

In order to receive the mark of the beast, it would have to be on written (tattoo?) his forehead or right hand. Stickers don't count, so he was kinda being ridiculous. The mark of the beast is not necessarily a tattoo or even the number 666 which is the name of the beast but not necessarily the mark, some believe that it could be a microchip and others believe that it is symbolic, like worshiping on a sunday rather than the true sabbath day which is saturday. I had a dream once that I accepted the mark of the beast by joining the Roman Catholic Church (I haven't actually joined the Catholic ch... [More]

That part of the Bible could be literal or it could be cryptic. I do not know the Bible well enough to know the answer to that. People who spend their life studying the Bible also don't know the answer to that, or many similar subjects written. But some sure claim to have it all figured out. I doubt that.

I had a dream once that I accepted the mark of the beast by joining the Roman Catholic Church (I haven't actually joined the Catholic church, only in the dream). That part of the Bible could be literal or it could be cryptic. I do not know the Bible well enough to know the answer to that. To dream about a different religion from your own suggests that you need to incorporate some key component of that religion in your own life. The dream may also mean that you need to be more accepting and tolerant of the differences in humanity .www.dreammoods.com/ fullywired

Because after all, simple numbers are a bad thing. Quick, you better forget math! In fact, might as well forget all knowledge, since you know, knowledge is power, and power is bad. Yay, let's hear it for the dark ages! And the "enlightenment?"

I am behind him 100000000%, cause I am Christian too, and I would feel the same way. Some athiests or non-religious people may say, "rofl, how overdone" or "not worth it", but in the longrun it is if that is what you believe in. Don't post to this thread if you don't know what your talking about. Also, whether I was Christian or not, I have to say that that is a VERY UNFAIR company policy - it is clearly what he believes in, and like the article said, it wasn't right that he had to abandon his religion to keep his job, and visa versa.

I hate it, but the guy seems to have a good case. He took a voluntary 3 day suspension from work to avoid the scary sticker and was later fired for no further incident (according to the story). The only thing I can imagine (and it's pure conjecture) is that the type of person to make that big a deal out of such an innocuous sticker might have made a similar big deal out of other things and they were just sick of him. D'ya reckon there will be any issues when theres been no accidents for 911 days...??

He shouldn't have been so stupid as to invest belief in such nonsense. Good enough for him.

Eh, he's dumb. But the company is dumb too. Aren't there lawsuits if parochial schools try to fire someone for not following Christian morals? I seem to remember that thread. Ah well.

You and him would get along swimmingly.

I tend to think that a company that is making numbered stickers for every person to wear every day is not really going to care too much one way or another if one worker "loses" his sticker as he is walking out the door. Similarly, I find it difficult to believe that an HR department is going to fire someone for the sole reason that they refused to wear a specific sticker on a specific day for what would be considered a valid religious reason (if incorrect). My thinking is that this guy got fired for other things, and that the sticker was simply the straw that broke the camel's back.
