Yeti hunt: was the evidence staged ?

One scientist believes that the Yeti evidence found during the expedition was staged by locals.
Last month an international team of scientists embarked on an expedition in Siberia to find evidence of the creature and discovered everything from footprints and hair samples to twisted tree branches. Anthropologist Jeffrey Meldrum however is not convinced, believing that most, if not all of the evidence found was either inconclusive or deliberately put there by some of the local people.
A group of international scientists made headlines last month after suggesting they were "95 percent" certain they'd found evidence that the elusive Yeti -- or fabled Siberian Snowman -- really exists.

Its too bad he doesnt display the same sceptical thinking when hes dealing with his bigfoot research. Perhaps hes a little gun shy after fully endorsing the snow walker video as real.

I wonder when people will stop losing their times with searching for creatures like bigfoot, nessie etc.

I wonder when people will stop losing their times with searching for creatures like bigfoot, nessie etc. They won't. It's not the destination (ie finding proof) that matters - it's the journey (ie the search). And it is a lot of fun. Instead of wondering why they simply don't quit, why don't you see if you can join in with local monster hunters? Experience it from an inside perspective. They may learn a great deal from having someone who doesn't leap to fanciful conlusions and you may learn about why they do what they do. Win-win.

Come on, we all know that's what they want us to think. Mr. Yeti is probably throwing back shots of the best vodka with Putin right now.

Why there is no expeditions for dragons or unicorns? There were in times past and they continue today for monsters more in-tune with the needs of the people. It's for the thrill of the search and the F-U-N of it all (see previous post). Have you never acted irrationally simply for the fun of it? But there's also a deeper reason: We humans may be reasonably intelligent and technologically advanced but our physical and psychological make-up is essentially primitive or even primeval. I suggest that cryptid sightings, like that of ghost sightings and other examples of mass delusions, can actually ... [More]

What really is the story here? It is simply the tale of one man's disappointment with some surrounding details of an individual yeti hunting initiative, and nothing more than that. It is quite possible that there are officials in Siberia who have a big interest in making a sensational claim and falsifying some evidence for it (although their motive for doing so is not so likely to have been for tourism - since this Western concept has much less purchase in Russia, particularly that far East of Moscow). None of this goes any way towards invalidating the possibility of unknown hominids in Russia... [More]
