Dolphins help fishermen to catch fish

A group of around 20 dolphins have been helping local fisherman with their yearly catch in Brazil.
The dolphins assist by herding the fish towards the fisherman before signaling to them with special head movements or tail slaps to let them know where to cast their nets. Research in to this unique co-operation has revealed that both maintain a reliance on the other for their survival. "About 200 local artisanal fishermen are almost entirely reliant on the dolphins for catching their fish," said researcher Fábio Daura-Jorge. "The fishermen do not fish without the assistance of the dolphins and know the individual animals from their natural marks and can recognize them by eye."
A visitor might stumble upon a strange sight in Laguna, Brazil, if they went down to the shore. Here, the local fishermen rely on dolphins to help them with their yearly fish catch.
