Doubts cast on Sara Brightman’s space trip

Soprano Sara Brightman may not get a chance to fly to the ISS after all due to a possible change of plan.
Brightman was due to become the world's eighth space tourist in 2015 on a trip that would last eight days, but now the Russian space agency has cast doubt on the schedule due to the possibility that the flight will be extended to one month. If this happens then it will be necessary to reallocate her seat to a professional astronaut.

"If it's a monthly shift, then it will be staff cosmonauts and astronauts who will be performing some short-term scientific research," said a spokesman. If Brightman's trip does go ahead then she will be the first space tourist to visit the International Space Station since Cirque du Soleil co-founder Guy Laliberte who spent 12 days there in 2009 after paying $40 million for the privilege.
The British soprano was set to go on an eight-day trip to the station, but NASA and Roskosmos are considering extending the visiting flight to one month, in which case she would have to give up her seat to a professional spaceman, Popovkin said.

Poor Sarah... gets no respect around here. As she has earned enough from her record sales to be able to afford a $30 million ticket to the space station I don't suppose she cares one iota what people on this website think about her or her music.

Ah if I had the money I would do the same. Besides, it helps offset the space budget.
