World's oldest cat turns 27

A particularly long-lived feline in the UK called Wadsworth has just celebrated his 27th birthday.
Wadsworth was adopted by owner Ann Munday in 1986 after being thrown out by his previous owner for being the runt of the litter. Now the equivalent of 125 in human years, the 27-year-old cat is believed to be the oldest in the world. Despite his advancing years he has suffered very little in the way of age related ailments and continues to enjoy good health.

The record for the oldest cat that ever lived is held by a female cat called Creme Puff who lived in Texas with her owner Jake Perry until the ripe old age of 38 before passing away in 2005. Remarkably, Perry also owned a cat called Granpa who lived almost as long at 34 years old.
Gill Monsell, Waddy's vet, says that the cat is largely healthy with only a few old-age ailments like hyperthyroidism. "Mrs. Munday does a fantastic job of treating him and he is very stable on the medication. "

our cat mischief has celebrated her 21st birthday .... she moved in with us after being left at a Women's Refuge Centre - fortunately she moved in with us next door .... just a bit deaf with a bit of renal failure but with the right care and attention she is doing fine. She had a check up last week - kidneys are fine with no scarring, has put on a bit of weight and is doing fine. Eating anything in site... but doing well...

We have a 17 and 16 year old cat here, both were born in our home too. Hopefully will hang around for many more years.

That's awesome! Unfortunately I've never had a cat longer than 6 years with their lives ending in terrible accidents with either vehicles or other animals!

Like a fine wine, cats seem to improve in personality with age. Nice to have fur too, as it never grays.

Cats seem to have a built in homing beacon. If you move to another home miles away, some cats will walk back to the old home that they're used to.

Cats seem to have a built in homing beacon. If you move to another home miles away, some cats will walk back to the old home that they're used to. Some of my friends dropped off a 1 year old cat they did not want up in the nearby mountains, about 40 miles away. 6 years later the cat turned back up and started living in their house again.

Our cat turned 26 on February 14, 2013. She had a stroke about 6 months ago, but has recovered to 98% of her mobility. How do you get a cat in the record books?
