A pir has been arrested after killing a volunteer with the intention of bringing him back to life.
The peculiar incident took place in Pakistan's Bahawalnagar district where Muhammad Sabir, a pir from the village of Mubarakabad, announced that he was able to raise the dead.

In an ill-advised effort to demonstrate this talent, Sabir started looking for a volunteer who was ready and willing to have his life taken from him so that he could then be miraculously resurrected again in front of a live audience.
On Wednesday a crowd gathered to watch as Sabir killed 40-year-old Muhammad Niaz on a table in the village square. As he uttered the words needed to bring the body back to life however it became all too apparant that the 'miracle' had been a failure and that the volunteer was well and truly dead.

Sabir was arrested by local police officers shortly afterwards as he attempted to flee the scene.
