Breathtaking aerial footage of the London skyline was recorded by an eagle as it soared overhead.
An imperial eagle by the name of Darchan has become something of a celebrity this week after it succeeded in recording incredible views of England's capital city from far above using a special camera that had been strapped to his back.
In the video the majestic bird swoops and soars high above some of the city's most memorable landmarks including Tower Bridge, the Olympic Stadium and St Paul's Cathedral.
The stunt was designed to raise awareness of endangered species as part of the Freedom Project campaign and marks the 50th anniversary of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List, which tracks conservation efforts across the globe.
Very cool. I wonder if these Go-Pro cams and others can be mounted on various animals, especially endangered ones such as the Rhino. Then they can be tracked in real-time and somehow used in conjunction with the use of small drones to watch and help prevent poaching. Something can/has to be done with all this great technology. Maybe even an eagle or falcoln can be trained to act like a drone to scope out these poachers then appropriate actions taken before they do their killing.
Amazing..It would be incredible, as Atuke says, to be able to scope out other animals in their "eye-view." It is a wonderful change in perspective and hopefully will have more people aware of these species. Way cool idea here.
Breath-taking...So that's what it's like to ride on the back of an eagle in flight! Can you imagine if a deep sea camera could also be attached to the head of whale as it travels the oceans?
