Eagle with a camera films London from above

Credit: David Castor / (PD) An imperial eagle by the name of Darchan has become something of a celebrity this week after it succeeded in recording incredible views of England's capital city from far above using a special camera that had been strapped to his back.

In the video the majestic bird swoops and soars high above some of the city's most memorable landmarks including Tower Bridge, the Olympic Stadium and St Paul's Cathedral.

The stunt was designed to raise awareness of endangered species as part of the Freedom Project campaign and marks the 50th anniversary of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List, which tracks conservation efforts across the globe.
