Mysterious holes discovered on the ocean floor

Could some sort of creature have created these holes ? Image Credit: NOAA
The NOAA has appealed to the public for help explaining the presence of a line of holes at the bottom of the sea.
The unidentified holes, which appear in a straight line and are intriguingly consistent in size and shape, were found 2,660 meters down by scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) during their 'Voyage to the Ridge 2022' expedition to the Mid-Atlantic.

As things stand, nobody seems to know who or what created the holes or why.

The mystery has prompted the NOAA to appeal to the public for assistance.
"Okay Facebookers, time to get out those scientist hats!" the Facebook post reads.

"On Saturday's Okeanos dive, we observed several of these sublinear sets of holes in the sediment. These holes have been previously reported from the region, but their origin remains a mystery."

"While they look almost human made, the little piles of sediment around the holes make them seem like they were excavated by... something."

"What's your hypothesis ?"

I agree with Raptor. Measurements would be nice as well as an indicator of North's direction. My first guess is Big Foot was there foraging. My second guess is ant lions.

"Look almost human made"?     I don't understand that.   Do humans make small holes in the depths of the ocean often.  I have seen many animals leave a straight line of marks on the ground.

There used to be a story many years ago . When the Cunard liners were crossing the Atlantic on a regular basis, they didnt do any washing up, just dumped the China overboard. So if it was possible to drain the Atlantic by just following the trail of crockery, you could walk it!

God created the world people and those lines are the left overs from the assembly instructions.

Probably some kind of clam moving slowly in the sediment and making hole after each movement to eat/breath with his siphon. The low current situation give it's track a long livespan.

Could it be part of a sunken ship?
