Elon Musk speaks out on the topic of UFOs and alien life

The SpaceX CEO and entrepreneur had a few things to say on the subject during the World Government Summit in Dubai.
Like him or loathe him, there is no denying that Elon Musk is still one of the most influential people in the world today, especially when it comes to areas such as technology and space flight.

On the subject of UFOs and alien life, however, the billionaire remains strangely skeptical.

"I do find the whole question of the aliens a very interesting one, you know, what is typically called the Fermi paradox, which is that if the universe is really as old as scientists think it is, and where are the aliens?" he said.

"If it really has been around for 13.8 billion years, if so, shouldn't there be aliens all over the place?"
"The crazy thing is that I've seen no evidence of alien technology, or alien life whatsoever. And I think I'd know. You know, the SpaceX... I don't think anyone knows more about space than me or at least about space technology."

He went on to admit that he found the idea that we are alone in the universe "troubling".

"What that actually could mean is that the civilization is like a tiny candle in the vast darkness," he said. "And a very vulnerable tiny candle that could easily get blown out."

"And I think we should therefore take great care of what may very well be this tiny candle in the vast darkness, and make sure it does not go out, and that we extend the light of consciousness beyond Earth, and do everything we can to ensure that the light of consciousness does not go out."

Good effort, but as I'm sure you already know, you'll never get through to these zealots. They're arguing from a position of bad faith to begin with.

Simping for musk, huh? I'm sure that will work out well for you.

You're arguing with a guy who fully believes "magnetic mountains" can pull cars up a hill - I don't think you need to address ANY of it, ever. If there was ever someone who doesn't (or maybe just refuses to) understand basic physics and science, you found them. All that aside, the whole simping for musk thing is just...gross. The "this guy is rich so everything he says is truth" nonsense plaguing this country is beyond sad. It demonstrates people's utter lack of understanding of basic concepts in way I have never noticed before. In the article musk actually says "nobody knows more about space ... [More]

Yeah, I know.  But consider this...maybe our ideas of what is 'higher evolution' are kind of jaded.  When does a species stop evolving?  When it is pretty damn well  perfect...not needing any further adaptive evolutionary traits.  So, the Tube Worms are pretty much completely evolved...they have no need to keep evolving.  But humans, most mammals must keep evolving because they still face adaptive forces.   Is higher technology the sign of advanced intelligence?  What is it that the life forms seek?  Intelligence or perfection?  Is the the closer one species becomes to perfection a sign of int...
