The woman was pulled out of the vehicle after it had been submerged underwater for quite some time.
The notion of being trapped in a sinking car as it slowly fills up with water is one sure to give most people nightmares, but how often do you hear about someone remaining trapped in a submerged car for a considerable amount of time and then being pulled out alive ?
This remarkable scenario played out in Lake O' the Pines, Texas recently when a fisherman spotted what looked like the back end of a Jeep submerged in the water around 40ft from the boat ramp.
When the emergency services arrived, he helped officers to remove the car from the water and was surprised to find that there was actually someone still moving around inside it.
Incredibly, they were able to pull her from the vehicle, still very much alive.
After warming up, she was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
It remains unclear how long she'd been in the submerged car or how the car had ended up in the lake in the first place, but it soon transpired that she had been registered as a missing person.
"With the assistance of the wrecker service, fisherman, and Marion County deputies, a female was safely rescued from the submerged jeep," the police said in a statement.
"EMS responded to the location and transported the female to a local hospital."
Can't find any subsequent information. From what was not said, I suspect foul play, an ongoing criminal investigation and respect for the woman's privacy.
