Unidentified creature filmed swimming in New Orleans lagoon

What type of creature is this ? Image Credit: WGNO-TV / ABC26 / WNOL38 / @earlypartners When Kim Frusciante visited New Orleans City Park's Sculpture Garden with her family recently, something moving in the nearby lagoon caught her attention.

Grabbing her phone, she filmed a short clip of a strange serpentine animal which seemed to undulate back and forth as it moved through the water.

Puzzled, she decided to post the video online to get a second opinion.

Before long, the mystery over the identity of the animal had ended up on local TV news."We looked into the water and saw a mysterious serpent-like creature," she told WGNO-TV.

"It is nothing I have seen before land or sea. The great people of the Internet seem to think it is a genetically modified carp fish created in a lab and released in City Park."

"It was quite long. I have a 4-year-old slightly smaller than it and it was weaving on the surface, and a lot of scales, the tail was red and it was swishing around aimlessly hanging out on the surface much longer than a normal fish."

Park officials have since launched an investigation into the sighting.
